  My family is from Barbados, but I was born in the United States my cultural identity concludes of being a west Indian and an American. The meaning of cultural identity is a small portion of a person self-conception and self-perception. Cultural identity connects people to a specific group this group can be anything such as ethnicity, religion, gender, communities.   leaving Barbados would have an influence on a person's cultural identity as a native Bajan if they moved to the United States. Barbados is a small island located in the southern eastern part of the Caribbean Sea. Barbados was conquered by the English in the late 17th centry, but they were not the first to concours the island the Arawak and the Carib were the first. Being under British rule for so long Barbados government is based off England's government. Barbados is also the oldest counting parliamentary democracy besides England.

 Deandra Greenidge     1. Yes, I feel that my blog meets all the requirements. Although I feel that my blog meets all the requirements there are still some areas that I could work on. For instance, I feel like I can go more into depth when providing Information.  2. The most stressful assignments can sometimes be the research project, because I feel like I have all this information, but sometimes I just don't know how to put it all together and it gets frustrating because I feel like I repeat myself more than I would like to.  3. Yes, I feel that I am putting my best effort into the assignments and the blog post. especially when it comes to the blog post because I really researched the islands and try to get to know everything about them as if I came from there.  4. Yes, I review and revise my blog so, I can check the grammar mechanics and readability so that it is easy flowing for the reader.  5. although writing on a public blog can be seen as embarrassing or risky for some. Saint Lucia is known as the” Land of the Iguanas” due to the high popularity of iguanas roaming the island. The Arawaks  called the island Louanolao  and when the Carbis seized control the name was then changed to  Hewanorra. Juan de la cosa produced a map of Columbus discoveries listed St. Lucia on the map as El Falcon. Whereas on a globe in the Vatican it is called Sancta Lucia which was then translated to Saint Lucia as we know it today.    A French pirate François le Clerc was actually the first European to ever set up camp in the 1550’s.
